The OLQP Parent Forum works as a partnership between parents and the school and is a vehicle for parent consultation and feedback. It allows school leaders to gauge parental opinion and perspective on a variety of issues. Each session has a formal agenda. Parents are also welcome to suggest agenda items.
Aims of the Forum
The key aims of the forum are to work together to improve the education provided for our students, to meet in a mutually supportive environment and to improve communications between parents/carers and staff/governors.
Format of Meetings
The usual format for meetings is as follows:
- A welcome and introduction by a member of staff
- Agenda item with a specific focus for the forum
- Opportunities for parents to discuss/generate ideas on the focus
- Feedback from parents
Benefits of the Parent Forum
Any presentations and reports shared at the meetings are made available to all parents. All feedback taken helps the school to develop a better understanding of the views and needs of parents/carers and how we might address and incorporate them in school developments and practices. The benefits to parents /carers are that they have a greater understanding of the way the school operates, have more information about their children's education and the quality of that education, are able to contribute to the strategic direction of the school and share in the vision for the school.
Discussion Points
In previous meetings, the following themes have been discussed: Assessment & Reporting, Behaviour, Anti-Bullying, Y6 Transition, Dining Room Queuing System, Mobile Phones, Home School Agreement & the Website
